Biography
Rowena Collins Rice was appointed Director General, Democracy, Constitution and Law on 1 April 2008. She is the Ministry of Justice's Chief Legal Officer, a post she has held since January 2007.
She joined the Home Office in 1985 as a policy fast-streamer, and qualified as a solicitor in 1995 after professional training in the Treasury Solicitor's Department. She has previously held senior legal appointments in the Home Office and HM Revenue & Customs, and is a member of the Government Legal Service Executive Board.
