Biography

Beverley Shears was appointed as acting Director General Human Resources on 1 April 2008, following her role as Director of Human Resources at the Ministry of Justice on 9 May 2007. She was appointed to this post at the Department for Constitutional Affairs on 5 February 2007.

Previously, she worked for London Underground Ltd in a variety of HR roles including HR Manager Engineering Operations 1990-94 and HR Manager Engineering 1994-95. She was General Manager Strategic Employee Relations London Transport 1995-97and General Manager HR London Transport 1997-99. From 1999 to 2005 she was Deputy Managing Director and HR Director South West Trains Ltd and from 2006 to 2007 she ran her own HR Consultancy Company.

Beverley is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development and a Chartered Member of the Institute of Directors. She is also on the Institute of Directors Examining Board.

She is married with two children.
