Biography

Ursula Brennan was asked by the Permanent Secretary to lead a review of the Ministry of Justice's organisational structure in May 2007. Prior to this, she was the Chief Executive of the Office for Criminal Justice Reform, an appointment she took up in May 2006. Before that Ursula spent two years as Director General, Living, Land and Seas at the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs. Her responsibilities included leading work on policy and strategy for rural disadvantage, protection of wildlife and the countryside and marine and fisheries business.

Ursula started her working life at the Greater London Council, but spent most of her career on what became the Department for Work and Pensions. At DWP she worked on a range of policies, in IT and delivery agencies and on programme management.
