Technologies

Intelligence is gathered which demonstrates links between promising pilots, ideas and concepts and deployed ITS tools. This service enables earlier consideration of new technologies and in addition identifies cases where consideration has been given to new ideas, but may be held in abeyance due to the associated ‘risks'. This process is depicted in the diagram.  

Standards

A standard is a technical specification or report that is developed with consensus across industry and is then approved by a body recognised at the national or international level. Standards specify how systems, products and services should operate and they should facilitate inter-operability and integration without impeding innovation as new technologies and approaches develop.   Specific ITS standardisation topics have been identified as having particular relevance to the HA. Location Positioning

The Galileo system will allow users to establish their location at any time to a high degree of accuracy, and will help to ensure Europe's competitiveness in a global market in satellite navigation products and services. When fully deployed, Galileo will consist of a constellation of 30 satellites in three orbital planes offering unprecedented accuracy and reliability of positioning. This is expected to facilitate a range of new applications, products and services to be developed for use in a wide range of industries including transport, telecommunications, fisheries and agriculture, civil protection and construction.
