Car to Car Forum and Demonstration 2008

The Car 2 Car Communication Consortium is holding its second Forum and Demonstration event 22/23 October 2008 at the Dudenhofen Test Centre in Rüsselsheim, Germany. The Car 2 Car Consortium was initiated by European vehicle manufacturers and is open to suppliers, research organisations and other partners The consortium’s main aim is to increase road traffic safety and efficiency by means of inter-vehicle communication and vehicle to roadside communication.

The Car 2 Car Communication Consortium objectives are to:

o        Create and establish an open European industry standard for CAR 2 CAR communication systems based on wireless LAN components with European-wide operability.

o        Enable the development of active safety applications by specifying, prototyping and demonstrating the CAR 2 CAR system.

o        Promote the allocation of a royalty free Europe-wide protected frequency band for CAR 2 CAR applications.

o        Push the harmonisation of CAR 2 CAR Communication standards worldwide.

o        Develop realistic deployment strategies and business models to speed up market penetration.

The Forum and Demonstration will bring consortium members up to date with the latest news and progress and provide an opportunity to experience car to communication interoperability in several use-cases.
