JIC Consultation on the Operation of SIP16 (Statement of Insolvency Practice 16)

Pre-packaged administration remains a controversial subject which attracts frequent attention in the media. The Joint Insolvency Committee (JIC) commissioned a new Statement of Insolvency Practice (SIP) 16 (Pre-packaged sales in administrations) which came into force on 1st January 2009, requiring insolvency practitioners to disclose information concerning pre-packaged sales to creditors at an early stage. For the last year the Insolvency Service has monitored disclosures under SIP16, which lead to the issue of further guidance to the profession.

On 23rd February 2010 JIC issued a consultation to insolvency practitioners and external stakeholders to consider the effectiveness of SIP16 and the further guidance from the Insolvency Service. The external stakeholder consultation questionnaire and the associated guidance can be accessed here for interested parties to feed in their views.
