Annual Reports: HMP Bedford - 2004

HMP Bedford is a small local prison. It is typical of many local prisons in that it is an antiquated Victorian establishment, with a growing and changing population. Against these difficulties, the staff deliver the complicated range of services expected of a local prison. The staff are doing commendable work in difficult circumstances. There is scope for improvement, particularly in getting prisoners out of their cells and into purposeful activity.
