Resilience & Contingency Planning
It is vital that we continue to protect the public
from any possible threat from terrorists now and for
years to come.
That is why we are taking sensible precautions and
making substantial investment now to ensure that the
emergency services, local authorities and government
departments and agencies are prepared to respond effectively
to any terrorist incident.
This is ongoing work. We are continually learning and
developing the best way to protect the UK from terrorism
and to manage the consequences of terrorism, whatever
form it comes in.

Our programme of counter-terrorism
exercises is among the best in the world, and a
vital part of our work in resilience and contingency
planning, as it allows us to test systems thoroughly,
train frontline responders, and highlight vulnerabilities.
The Cabinet Office has published a The
Civil Contingencies Bill, and a guidance document
called 'Dealing
with Disaster', which is a collection of the best
practice principles of how local authorities and emergency
responders handle major incidents, including terrorism.
