Mode of trial

A crucial decision early on in a criminal case, is whether it should be held in a Magistrate's or Crown Court. Following is guidance to assist decision makers.

The Criminal Justice (Mode of Trial) Bill is now available on the Parliament website. There are also explanatory notes which are published with the bill. This bill follows on from the consultation paper Determining mode of trial in either-way cases.
