Working to solve the whole problem

Drugs

Drugs in communities

Drug-related offending, violence and anti-social behaviour have the greatest visible impact on communities.

To tackle such serious issues we're working to reduce drug supply and drug demand, including dealing with the supply of drugs coming into the country from overseas.

Our key work in addressing the problem of drugs in our communities includes:

  • identifying offenders with drug problems
  • responding to community concerns about drug use
  • supporting those communities that are taking on the problem through strong local campaigns
  • creating international partnerships to stop drug trafficking and supply
  • extending our powers to seize the belongings of serious drug offenders, and freeze their assets
