'Victims' Code of Practice: A consultation on the final drafts of the Code and the 'Guide for Victims'
The Consultation paper on the Victims' Code of Practice and the Guide for Victims which accompanies it take the existing Victims' Charter as a starting point but strengthen the commitments to a high level of service contained within it, giving victims statutory rights for the first time. Many organisations involved in victim care were consulted throughout the process of drafting the Code, and the names of all of these groups can be found in the opening pages of the Consultation paper.
The paper sets out in detail the precise standards of care and support that victims can expect to receive from Criminal Justice agencies once the Code is implemented, with an emphasis on timely information provision and a greater level of joined-up working between agencies in order to deliver the best possible service.
