Proposal to increase the fixed penalties for two types of driving offences

After careful consideration, the government is considering increasing the fixed penalty for two driving offences from £30 to £60.

The two offences are:

  • misrepresentation of vehicle registration marks
  • failure to comply with seat belt legislation   

This consultation outlines the proposed changes, and the reasons for the changes.
