Response to the consultation on the code of practice for seizing criminal assets 2002

The Proceeds of Crime Act 2002 ("the Act") received Royal Assent on Wednesday 24th July 2002. It contains a comprehensive package of measures designed to make the recovery of unlawfully held assets more effective.

The new law consolidates prior powers and new powers of investigation into the extent and whereabouts of the proceeds of crime. The provisions for investigations are set out in Part 8 of the Act.
