Reducing Remand Delays - A Consultation Paper

Part One of this paper sets out the Government's proposals for strengthening the operation of statutory time limits currently provided for in the Prosecution of Offences Act 1985. Part Two describes three new procedural measures aimed at tackling delays caused by abuse of bail and by the late arrival of escorted prisoners in court. These measures will also apply to juveniles.
