The Core (non-IND) Home Office Associate Race Equality Scheme

The Home Office first published a Race Equality Scheme in April 2002. The earlier scheme helped us secure better policy making and provided a framework of standards and principles against which to judge the way we delivered public services to our diverse community. It was a basis for ensuring that we treated our own people fairly and the background to progress we have made in recruiting a workforce that reflects the communities we serve. It is now important that we update our scheme: this is not merely a statutory obligation. We need to learn from our experience and look at how we can do things better.
