Inspection reform: establishing an inspectorate for justice and community safety

The proposals outlined in this consultation document ‘Inspection Reform: Establishing an Inspectorate for Justice and Community Safety’ will achieve a stronger inspectorate for the criminal justice system that focuses on assuring the public, driving improvements in services, whilst reducing the burden on the front line by adopting a risk based approach. These proposals are designed to deliver an inspection system that continues with the independent inspection of criminal justice agencies, including the treatment and conditions of those in custody, but increasingly examines how the CJS as a whole delivers for the public.
