The Government is seeking to develop a Community Cohesion and Race Equality strategy, which wil be launched in the autumn and which will form the basis of a renewed programme of action, across Government and more widely, to build community cohesion and reduce race inequalities. This is not an area where the Government can or should have all of the answers, but it is our role to lead an honest and robust debate, in which people freely express their views, and these pamphlets provide a framework for that by setting out our analysis of the issues and challenges that we need to address through the strategy.

Over the coming months, we want to engage with as many people as possible across Government, the wider public service, the private sector and voluntary and community organisations.

We also want to engage directly with the public, particularly young people whose views are often not heard. To help achieve this, we will be arranging a series of events and workshops across the country. To ensure young people can engage in this process, a consultation pamphlet for young people was published on 7 July.
