Encryption

Criminals such as online paedophiles often use encryption to protect their electronic information.

The National Technical Assistance Centre (NTAC) is a unit within the Crime Reduction and Community Safety Group of the Home Office that provides a central facility for processing and translating encrypted information that has been lawfully intercepted.

In this way, NTAC supports law enforcement and intelligence agencies in their efforts to reduce serious crime, prevent terrorism and combat threats to national security.
