Crime & Policing

The fight against crime is an integral part of the Government's commitment to make Britain a better place to live.

Our efforts in this regard fall roughly into the five categories below:

Crime Reduction

This section provides information about our crime reduction strategy; our efforts to reduce burglary, especially in deprived areas; measures and initiatives we have introduced to address alcohol-related crime; information about RIPA (the Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act 2000); and documents on domestic violence (including violence against women).

Crime Prevention and Advice

Information and advice about home security, personal safety, retail and business crime, vehicle crime, local partnership, and general support and advice.

Organised & International Crime

This section has details about extradition, encryption and the Proceeds of Crime Act, all of which are relevant in the fight against organised international crime.

Firearms

Various publications pertaining to the use of firearms, from security to police guidance.

Police

Detailed information and publications about all aspects of the police service, including complaints, equality and diversity, and race relations between the police and the community.
