Domestic Violence & Violence
Against Women
We are committed to tackling domestic violence on
every front.
Unacceptable in itself, domestic violence can also
affect victims' housing, health, education and the
freedom to live freely and without fear.
We are developing strategies that will:
- combine prevention with support for victims
- ensure that domestic violence and abuse are
treated seriously and effectively by the criminal
justice system
- create greater awareness among the public
- improve communication and co-operation between
relevant professionals and agencies
As we do this, we take full account of our existing
commitments to tackle crime in general, and to promote
equality and opportunity for women.
