- (Excel file size 23kb)
Race Equality Grants fund projects which promote race
equality and give minority ethnic communities greater
access to, and influence over, policy makers and service
providers.
£15 million has been allocated under the Connecting
Communities race equality grant scheme until the end
of the 2005-06 financial year.
Aims of the Race Equality
Grant scheme
Three main areas of support have been identified where
funding will benefit minority ethnic communities. These
are: Community Networks; Access to Jobs and Services;
and Positive Images.
The three programmes aim to:
- help create strong and sustainable community networks
and bring together, wherever possible, faith and community
groups for joint initiatives;
- build trust, respect and confidence between minority
ethnic communities and public authorities, encourage
the use of services provided, promote careers in public
services as worthwhile opportunities, and ensure the
views of minority ethnic communities are taken into
account to enable appropriate service delivery and
employment practice;
- help counteract racist, negative stereotyping of
minority ethnic people by publicising and celebrating
the achievements of minority ethnic communities and
individuals, and the positive contribution they have
made, and are making to British society, and promote
trust and understanding between communities of different
ethnic origin.
