This group, together with the services it oversees, has a vital role in achieving the Home Office's core purpose of protecting the public. We contribute to the achievement of all the Home Office's seven strategic objectives and we have lead responsibility for helping people feel safer in their homes and local communities, cutting crime, especially violent, drug and alcohol related crime, and supporting visible, responsive and accountable policing. It is made up of the following directorates and units:
