Guidance

• Principles for Managing Risk to the Public (PDF file)
  The principles for managing risk to the public were issued for public consultation when the Strategy Unit report was published in November 2002.  The final version has now been published.
• Guidance on Communicating Risk
  Published by the Cabinet Office and available on the UK Resilience website.
• The Risk Management Assessment framework (PDF file) . 
  This is offered to Departments  as an optional tool to help evaluate the standard of risk management in an organisation. It may also be of assistance in benchmarking and peer review. It is currently in draft form.
• Early Management of Risks to Successful Delivery (Word File)
  Issued by the Prime Minister on 29 March 2004, this tool for policymakers developed with the NAO, looks at common risks to successful delivery of policies. 

Database, Discussion Groups and Enquiry Service on Risk Management

To help spread good practice in risk management across government, the Public Sector Benchmarking Service (PSBS, please note this link will open in a new browser window) provides access to discussion groups, knowledge banks, search facilities, document download facility, notice board, links, and enquiry service helpdesk/research facilities. Also, a  database of good practice in risk management has been  established, hosted by the PSBS. Users are encouraged to submit examples for the database.
