The Chancellor and Exchequer Secretary launched the Office of Tax Simplification on 20 July 2010 to provide the Government with independent advice on simplifying the UK tax system.

The OTS has published a number of reports on our website. These are the final report on small business, the interim report on pensioner taxation and the first report on employee share schemes.
Taxation of pensioners
The interim report on pensioner taxation was published on Tuesday 6 March.
Employee share schemes
The report on the review of tax advantaged employee share schemes has been published on Tuesday 6 March.
Small business tax simplification
On Tuesday 28 February 2012, the OTS published its final report on small business taxation.
The recommendations in this report are broken down into three papers. The first paper brings these strands together, and also covers the detailed recommendations on tax administration. The other two papers are stand alone documents.
As part of this review, HMRC commissioned a piece of external research on behalf of the OTS. This has been used extensively in arriving at our recommendations.
