WINTER SUPPLEMENTARY ESTIMATES AND SUMMARY SUPPLEMENTARY REQUEST FOR SUPPLY (SSRfS): 2001-02

The SSRfS presented to the House of Commons today summarises the Winter Supplementary Estimates presented to the House of Commons on 29 November seeking £6,470 million in resources and £7,238 million in cash. The Supplementary Estimates seek increased resources and cash for existing services and Parliamentary authority, with necessary funding, for certain new services.

These Estimates do not involve any change in total spending plans because any increases sought have either been offset by savings elsewhere in departmental programmes, charged to the Departmental Expenditure Limits (DEL) Reserve or represent shifts against the Annually Managed Expenditure (AME) Margin. Since the Reserve and the Margin are part of Total Managed Expenditure, the planned total of public expenditure remains unchanged.

Within the overall increase noted there is a charge to the DEL Reserve of £3,807 million and an increase of £1,238 million in the departmental programmes within AME.
