NEW MEMBER OF THE COUNCIL OF ECONOMIC ADVISERS
The Treasury has announced today that Maeve Sherlock has been appointed as a member of the Council of Economic Advisers. She will work as a policy expert to Treasury Ministers on welfare to work, child poverty and other policy issues.
NOTE TO EDITORS
- The Council of Economic Advisers was created in August 1997 (PN 99/97). It is made up of individual policy experts who bring their specialist advice to work alongside individual Treasury teams focusing on the Government's key policy priorities.
- The Council's terms of reference are to advise the Chancellor of the Exchequer on the design and implementation of policies for the achievement of the Government's economic objectives.
- Maeve Sherlock is currently the Director of the National Council for One Parent Families, a long established charity which works with and for lone parents. She has worked in the voluntary sector for 15 years. She is also a Trustee and Hon Treasurer of the National Family and Parenting Institute.
