Regulatory Inspection and Enforcement Review Terms of reference

We will consider the scope for promoting more efficient approaches to regulatory inspection and enforcement, while continuing to deliver excellent regulatory outcomes.
We will do this through discussions with business, regulators, and in consultation with the Better Regulation Task Force.
In doing this, we will examine:

  • all business-regulator interactions, including form-filling and licensing
  • local authorities and national regulatory structures

But we will not examine:

  • economic regulators
  • tax authorities

We will concentrate on those regulatory activities that impose most burden on businesses.
The Review covers Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland to the extent that those are covered by regulatory authorities that also cover England.
