The Euro
These documents address the preparations for the possibility of the UK joining the single currency. These are distinct from the preparations to help business deal with the euro now.
The third outline National Changeover Plan provides an update on the preparation work undertaken under the Government's policy of 'prepare and decide', and is a comprehensive statement of how the Government would manage a UK changeover.
The plan includes updates on all areas of euro preparations, from a cash changeover to a changeover in the public sector. It includes draft guidance for different sectors of the economy on issues such as protecting consumers and accounting principles, and also includes the Managed Transition Plan, setting out what euro services would be provided, when, and by whom, in the event of a UK changeover.
