Public Finances Databank

The Public Finances Databank is a compilation of published data covering the main aspects of the Government Finances including receipts, expenditure, borrowing and debt.  All the data is presented in clearly defined tables and charts which provide a quick and easy way of assessing past performance as well as showing forecasts for the future.  Many of the data fields go as far back as the 1970’s with the latest Treasury forecasts stretching to 2008-2009.

The databank includes tables with monthly data on the main fiscal aggregates, net borrowing and the budget balances.  Readers will therefore be able to track these public finance indicators over the financial year and perform month on month comparisons with previous years.  The databank also includes borrowing data broken down into Central and Local Government and Public Corporations. Other tables provide a brief overview of public expenditure, a detailed breakdown of current receipts or a comparison of financial balances and debt within the G7. Most of the figures come from the Office for National Statistics but all exceptions to this are noted.

The databank is a useful source of information for anybody with an interest in Public Finance.
