Public Spending Statistics Index

The Public Spending Statistics website brings together historic data, recent outturn data, estimated outturns for the latest year and budgetary plans over the whole range of UK public expenditure. Outturn data (to 2000-01) fall within the scope of National Statistics. (Data falling outside the National Statistics umbrella are highlighted in red.) For further information on departmental compliance with National Statistics please see link below.

Further data on Public Spending can be located in the following annual publications:

Public Expenditure Outturn White Paper - reports provisional outturn figures for public spending, providing information on DEL (Departmental Expenditure Limits) and AME (Annually Managed Expenditure) and
Public Expenditure Statistical Analyses - a compendium which brings together recent outturn data, estimated outturns for the latest year and budgetary plans over the whole range of UK expenditure. PESA 2004 was published on the 19th April. The following articles were released, pre-announcing methodological changes. Changes to the Public Expenditure by Function series Technical Note and the Changes To The Public Expenditure By Country And Region Series Technical Note .

For latest release of key series please refer to the Public Spending Annual Outturns News Press Release , which has been released in accordance with the National Statistics Code of Practice. The data in this press release will appear in the relevant tables within these pages on 21st July 2004.

The data for each section (listed below) are available to download from the relevant index page. These may be downloaded in Excel by clicking on the 'Excel version' or in CSV (Comma Separated Value) by clicking on the 'CSV version'. CSV format is compatible with popular spreadsheet software.
