Total Managed Expenditure by sub-sector
Total Managed Expenditure (TME) is derived from national accounts produced by the Office for National Statistics (ONS). TME is the sum of current and capital expenditure of central government, local government, and public corporations.
TME is net of any transfers between the sub-sectors. So for example interest paid by local government to central government does not add to TME and so is not included in the total for local government own expenditure. Similarly central government own expenditure does not include grants paid to local government.
