Efficiency Programme structure and workstreams

The Efficiency programme is delivering efficiency gains in five areas:

Procurement is "getting better values from goods and services bought by government".
Example: eAuctions, or online auctions, are a great example of better procurement. Up to 41 per cent is saved each time they are used.

Productive Time (OGC website) is "freeing up more time for frontline service delivery".
Example: More than £2 billion saved in the first full year of the programme

Corporate Services is "reducing running costs in HR, IT support and finance".
Example: the Royal Navy merged its two headquarters to save £10 million.
You can find more information on Transformational Government on the Cabinet Office website

Transactional Services is "streamlining interactions with citizens and other customers"
Example: Customers can now claim three linked benefits in one phone call - Pension Credit, Housing Benefit and Council Tax Benefit

Policy, Funding and Regulation (PFR) is "streamlining government machinery".
Example: The NHS has reduced the numbers of 'arm's length bodies' from 38 to 26, with a further reduction to 20 planned.

In addition, the programme is helping departments to deliver the Lyons relocation targets. You can find more information on the relocation portal.
