Government Guidance Note on Progressing Local Pay

In order to improve the UK economy’s ability to achieve high growth and high employment, and increase labour market flexibility to help improve the delivery of public services the Chancellor announced in Budget 2003 that the Government would be giving increased emphasis to the regional and local elements of public service pay.  Further detail of this policy has now been developed as guidance for departments on implementation.

The guidance, which was prepared by the Treasury in consultation with the Cabinet Office, is available below in Adobe Acrobat Portable Document Format (PDF). If you do not have Adobe Acrobat installed on your computer you can download the software free of charge from the Adobe website.
