Overview

On 17 March 2008 the European Union adopted Council Regulation (EC) No 243/2008 which provided for a freeze on the funds of the individual members of the illegal authorities of Anjouan in the Union of Comoros and those associated with them as designated by the European Union.

Following the military action of 25 March 2008 and restoration of the authority of the government of the Union of the Comoros on the island of Anjouan, the European Union adopted Council Regulation (EC) No 705/2008 which lifted the restrictive measures and repealed Council Regulation (EC) No 243/2008.
