Bulletin number 30 from HM Treasury
This is the thirtieth bulletin covering developments on the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000 (FSMA).
Publication of final draft Orders regulating mortgage business
On 8 August, and in response to the February 2002 Consultation Document "Regulating Mortgages", the Treasury published final drafts of its Orders to regulate mortgage business. The draft Orders are as follows:
i) The Financial Services and Markets Act 2000 (Regulated Activities) (Amendment) Order 200[3];
ii) The Financial Services and Markets Act 2000 (Financial Promotion) (Amendment) Order 200[3]; and
iii) The Financial Services and Markets Act 2000 (Misleading Statements and Practices) (Amendment) Order 200[3].
These draft Orders have been published in their final form (and not for consultation) in order that the FSA (and industry) can begin the preparations for regulation. Parliamentary approval will be sought in due course.
