Qualified Investor Scheme
The Government is today publishing proposals which replace the substantial holding rule for Qualified Investor Schemes with a genuine diversity of ownership rule. The aim is to improve the competitiveness of the UK as a location in which to launch authorised investment funds for sophisticated and institutional investors, remove tax as a barrier and reduce compliance obligations for QIS investors.
This proposal follows the package of measures to improve asset management taxation which were announced in Budget 2008.
The Government seeks industry views on this proposal by Wednesday 22 October 2008.
