Economic instruments to improve household energy efficiency: Consultation

Budget 2002 announced that the Government would consider ways in which economic instruments might be used to improve household energy efficiency, consistent with its objective of eliminating fuel poverty and not introducing new taxes on household energy.

The purpose of this consultation was to invite views on possible applications of economic instruments in this area. Responses will help to inform the Government's policy development and will be considered in the context of the wider process of consultation leading up to the Energy White Paper.

This consultation was closed on 8 October 2002.  A summary of the responses to this consultation is available below.
