Review of the GB cooperative and credit union legislation

This consultation seeks views from stakeholders on the review of the legislation for cooperatives and credit unions in Great Britain. The long term-aim is to provide the cooperative and credit union sectors with a cost-effective legislative framework, which will enable them to compete even more effectively in the modern society and to continue to fulfil their valuable social role.

The responses to this consultation will help to inform policy and form the evidence base for any proposed changes. Following on from this the Treasury will prepare a full Impact Assessment of the various options including a cost/benefit assessment based on the evidence gathered.

The consultation documents are available in Adobe Acrobat Portable Document Format (PDF). If you do not have Adobe Acrobat installed on your computer you can download the software free of charge from the Adobe website.
