Tax Elected Funds

16 December 2008

The Government announced a package of proposals to enhance the competitiveness of the UK as a place for funds to locate in Budget 2008.  One of key proposals was that the Government would engage with industry to consider a direct tax exemption for Authorised Investment Funds based in the UK.

A discussion paper was published in July 2008 which set out the Government's thinking on how to deliver a more competitive tax regime for Authorised Investment Funds.  The Government is today publishing a summary of responses to that discussion paper and intends to issue draft legislation for consultation in the new year.
