Regulatory issues for Industrial and Provident Societies

30 September 2004

This consultation covers the Government’s proposals on introducing an ‘asset lock’ for Industrial and Provident Societies incorporated as community benefit societies. It asks consultees for views on a range of issues such as how the asset lock regime is to be set up and how the use of locked assets should be regulated. This consultation also asks consultees for views on two other issues of relevance to the Industrial and Provident Society sector; a proposal to increase the audit threshold for non-charitable Industrial and Provident Societies and a question on the preferred location of the registration function for the sector.
