Implementing the Fourth Motor Insurance Directive

24 April 2002

The paper details proposals from the Department of Transport, Local Government and the Regions, the Lord Chancellor’s Department, the Financial Services Authority and HM Treasury. These would make it easier for someone resident in one Member State, who suffers loss or injury caused by a driver in another Member State they are visiting, to pursue a claim against the insurer. Comments are welcomed from all interested parties.

Hard copies of the consultation paper can be ordered by contacting the Treasury public enquiries unit, on 020 7270 4558.

The Fourth Motor Insurance Directive document is available below in Adobe Acrobat Portable Document Format (PDF). If you do not have Adobe Acrobat installed on your computer you can download the software free of charge from the Adobe website.
