Mesothelioma compensation: amending the Financial Services Compensation Scheme

A joint consultation by HM Treasury and the Financial Services Authority (FSA) on proposed changes to the Financial Services Compensation Scheme to broaden the circumstances in which responsible persons and/or insurers can claim a contribution directly against the Scheme in mesothelioma cases.

The consultation opened on 8 September and closed on 6 October 2006. 14 responses were received to the consultation. The proposed changes will be made by Statutory Instrument and changes to FSA rules. Further details are in the Summary of responses and Regulatory Impact Assessment.
