The Treasury held a consultation on the Building Societies (Funding) and Mutual Societies (Transfers) Act 2007 from 1 September to 27 October 2008. A total of 20 formal responses were received. The responses were from a wide cross section of stakeholders ranging from trade associations and other representative bodies to the general public and individual mutual societies.
This document summarises the responses and set out the Government's implementation proposals and draft implementing Order in relation to sections 3 and 4 of the Act for building societies.
