11 October 2007
On 11 October 2007, the Chancellor of the Exchequer announced, in an oral statement to Parliament, the publication by HM Treasury, the Financial Services Authority and the Bank of England, of a discussion paper taking forward his commitment to reform the framework to protect depositors. This discussion paper seeks views on the outcomes that any new framework should be designed to achieve.
The publication of the discussion paper represented the first stage of engaging with stakeholders and, informed by the responses to this paper, enabled the Government to follow up with a consultation paper.
This consultation closed on 5 December 2007.
The document and responses are available below in Adobe Acrobat Portable Document Format (PDF).
