Cambridge-based energy services company Green Energy Options Limited is undertaking a multi-million pound contract to supply its energy monitoring units, after securing a £1 million funding line under the Government’s Enterprise Finance Guarantee Scheme.
GEO is involved in the production of a range of energy efficiency products that make energy consumption visible and help both domestic and business users manage, understand and reduce the amount of carbon dioxide they produce.
Commenting on the production contract and the opportunities it opens up for Green Energy Options, CEO Patrick Caiger-Smith said:
“We have reached a milestone in the company’s history. To fulfill orders on this scale, there is a big funding requirement to meet the logistical demands placed upon us and we are delighted to have agreed this funding package. In today’s tougher environment there was some trepidation about our ability to raise the level of funding required but we have been delighted by the flexibility the structuring of the loan under the EFG scheme provides.”
Nicola Ray styled herself a new career by setting up a mobile hairdressing business with support from Jobcentre Plus.
The 36-year-old had been claiming Income Support after finishing her job last August, but with over 18 years’ experience in hairdressing she was desperate to work. She identified a gap in the market for a personalised mobile salon service for weddings and other special occasions. Her Jobcentre Plus Adviser referred Nicola for training in book-keeping and marketing, and arranged funding to buy equipment
Nicola, from Newcastle, said:
“I had always thought of working for myself, but I had to be ready to take that plunge. My Jobcentre Plus Adviser was very supportive with my journey to become self-employed, she put me forward for Business Initiative where you learn to do your book keeping and marketing, which I found very helpful. ”
