The Risk Programme: STEERING GROUP

An implementation steering group (replacing various existing groups – the Risk Management Steering Group, Interdepartmental Liaison Group on Risk Assessment and the Risk Advisory Group) has been established as a sub-group of the Civil Service Management Board to drive change over the programme period. Sir David Omand will chair the steering group.

The steering group aims to support successful delivery of the programme of change, by:

  • Ensuring departments have a clear framework for action (as an integral part of the Departmental Change Programme);
  • Monitoring progress with implementation, and assessing whether this is resulting in better handling of risks;
  • Regularly reviewing, and if necessary adjusting, the content of the programme to ensure its continuing effectiveness and relevance;
  • Ensuring central support meets the needs of departments; and
  • Providing visible championing of the programme.

The Steering Group regularly reports to the Civil Service Management Board, and the Prime Minister (incorporating the standard arrangements for Strategy Unit reports).

The Steering Group comprises:
