Definition:

Published Exchange Equalisation Fund Accounts available from financial year 1997-98.  The Exchange Equalisation Account (EEA) holds the United Kingdom's reserves of gold, foreign currencies and International Monetary Fund (IMF) Special Drawing Rights (SDRs).  These holdings, together with the United Kingdom's reserve tranche position at the IMF and certain other categories of loans made by the United Kingdom to the IMF, make up the United Kingdom's official reserves.
