The Project
The scheme has been designed to reduce congestion and improve safety at the A46 Hobby Horse Roundabout in Leicestershire.
The existing roundabout has been enlarged with additional entry lanes and improved alignments. Full time traffic signal control has been provided on the three busiest of the four arms of the roundabout. Lane markings on the roundabout carriageway will help to guide drivers through the junction.
The operation of the signals and the relative timings between different entries has been based on well established methods thus ensuring efficient movement of traffic through the junction.
The existing lighting has also been extended to cover the enlarged junction.
The scheme was completed on Thursday 11th May 2006 and the road is now completely open to traffic.
