The Project

With the growing emphasis on regional planning and decision-making, transport decisions are increasingly linked to regional objectives and priorities.

The Highways Agency is therefore developing its forward planning on a regional basis so as to be able to contribute to this decision-making process.

This means that the Route Management Strategy that had been planned for West to East Midlands RMS has been put on hold for the time being whilst the new regional strategy for the Midlands is being developed. The new regional strategy will take into account the needs of the West to East Midlands RMS.

We will be able to use the information from completed Route Management Strategies as a valuable input to the new regional strategies.
