The Project

The Highways Agency is responsible for the management, maintenance, operation and improvement of the trunk roads and motorways in England. A Route Management Strategy (RMS) has been prepared for the A5 which identified and collated existing problems and issues along the route, including future planning and development issues. These, based on the route objectives and functions, were planned and prioritised to define a 10-year vision for the route. This resulted in identifing the types of improvements or 'Route Outcomes' that the Highways Agency will seek to achieve for the route. Implementation will be achieved thruough a route plan, and subject to statutory procedures and funding.

The A5 RMS (from M1 junction 9 to M1 junction 18) document can be viewed from the publications page.
